Extremely healthful and rich in organic iodine, fresh dulse (a dark red seaweed) is delicious in salads. Children in the Maritime Provinces of Canada chew on fresh dulse instead of candy. In health food stores dulse is found dried, and in this form it is quite leathery and tough; therefore it is usually used in cooking. Add it chopped to your soups, and forget the salt – dulse brings its own, in the most natural form possible.
