When used externally, this tea has a long-standing reputation for its healing power on wounds. When taken internally, it has been successful with problems of the kidneys and ulcers as well as easing cases of hay fever. Solidago odura and S. virgaurea are the species of goldenrod most commonly used. One teaspoon dried flower tops should be boiled for 1 minute, steeped for 15, then strained and served. The tea has a sweet, pleasant flavor.
Goldenrod tea is sometimes also known as solidago tea, after the generic name for goldenrod. This herb is best avoided by those suffering from kidney disorders.
