Linseed Oil

Linseed oil is expressed from the linseed or flaxseed. When cold-pressed, it is relatively odorless and tasteless and may be used for cooking and salads. Widely used as a medium by painters and for making paints, varnishes, and linoleum, the commercial oil is extracted by use of high heat and is not suitable for human consumption. See also Flaxseed.
