The huckleberry bush is hardly distinguishable from its botanical relative, the blueberry, and the medicinal values of the two teas are identical. In ancient times both the berries and the leaves were infused; now only the leaves are used to make a tea that is an astringent in cases of diarrhea and is said to be useful in the treatment of diabetes because of its insulin content. To brew tea, steep 1 teaspoon leaves in 2 cups boiling water for 20 minutes.
