Royal jelly is a pale, creamy, sweet substance that is produced by the worker bees to feed the queen bee. The fact that a worker bee lives only a few months while the queen bee can live for three years has aroused much interest in royal jelly. Health food speculators have pounced on it as a miracle substance, a veritable fountain of youth, and there is no doubt that exaggerated claims have been made. However, analysis shows that royal jelly is extremely rich in B vitamins, particularly pantothenic acid, which is known to alleviate many of the diseases associated with aging – such as ulcers, graying hair, heart damage, etc. Royal jelly should be eaten fresh and kept refrigerated.
