Ginkgo Biloba

A common addition to Japanese temple gardens, the ginkgo biloba is considered to be one of the world’s oldest species of tree, and can be traced back to the time of dinosaurs. Ginkgo-leaf extract is best known for its usefulness in the treatment of memory loss and has been used to treat Alzheimer’s disease, age-related dementia, as well as the short-term memory loss common to many. Ginkgo is also used in the treatment of PMS, vertigo, and high cholesterol. Ginkgo is available in pill, capsule, and tincture form. The fresh ginkgo nut is also edible and has a mild, slightly sweet flavor that is widely enjoyed in both Japanese and Chinese cuisine.
