Mango, dried

Besides being stunningly beautiful, both on the tree and off, mangoes have a sweet, juicy, delicate flavor unlike any other, a taste so delectable, in fact, that mangoes may be one of the most popular fruits on the market. It is said that Buddha was given the gift of an entire grove of mango trees where he could rest when he wished, a legend that has earned the mango the mythical value of being able to grant wishes.

Dried mango is a sweet and tasty treat that is high in vitamins A and C, as well as potassium and beta-carotene. Dried mango is at its best when organic and dried without the addition of unnecessary sugars. The result is an energizing, somewhat leathery piece of mango that is considered a delicacy by adults and children alike. As always, be sure to purchase only unsulfured dried fruit!

Chlorella

This freshwater algae has a higher chlorophyll content than any other plant, including alfalfa. Considered by many to be useful in detoxifying the body, chlorella is said to absorb toxins in the body, remove alcohol from the liver, treat viral and bacterial infections, and relieve constipation. Chlorella can also be mixed with water to form a paste that can be applied topically to aid in healing cuts and wounds.

Chlorella contains comparable nutrients to that of spirulina – high in protein, amino acids, and beta-carotene – but has twice the amount of chlorophyll and nucleic acid. Chlorella is more difficult to harvest and process than other blue-green algae, which drives up the price of chlorella considerably. However, due to its high nutrient content, less is needed to experience results. Chlorella is available in powder and capsule form.
