The dried apple is moist and nonsticky – a neat snack for children. It is not a particularly low-calorie food; however, its calories will work for, not against, you, because dried apples contain many valuable nutrients including pectin.
Dried apples can be soaked in water overnight and substituted with fairly good results in recipes that call for fresh apples. Stewed with a little honey and lemon juice added, they rest on their own merits.
