Date sugar can be made from the sap of the date palm. The date sugar that is most commonly seen in this century, however, is composed of ground dried dates. As dates have a sugar content of about 70 percent, these rich brown granules offer an excellent mineral-rich substitute for honey or cane sugar. See also Date, dried.
