Cardamom Seed

Cardamom pods, the fruit of an herbaceous plant native to India and Ceylon, contain aromatic seeds that are used to flavor desserts, mulled wines, and curries. They must be harvested carefully lest the pod split open and the seeds lose some of their heady essence. In Asia cardamom seeds are chewed to sweeten the breath; early American colonists used them for the same purpose.
